The works of Jao Tsung-i, an eminant scholar with the University of Hong Kong, are on display in atrium of the Hong Kong Pavilion until September 30.

The calligraphy couplets and paintings reveal the master artist's passion for Hong Kong and its extraordinary landscapes. Also on exhibit are his stationery accessories and publications in different languages.

Professor Jiao is a versatile scholar deeply knowledgeable about the Eastern and Western cultures. His research interests span the pre-Qin to the Ming and Qing dynasties, covering 13 genres from ancient history to oracle bone inscriptions, silk scripts, palaeography, ancient musicology, religion, historiography, Dunhuang studies, classical Chinese literature and history of Chinese fine arts.

Jiao is fluent in English, French, Japanese, German, Hebrew, Hindi and Arabic and is well versed in oracle bone script, Sanskrit and cuneiform writing.
