Visitors to the Japanese Industry Pavilion can sip green tea from Shizuoka, appreciate its performing art and learn about its hot spring culture during a week-long promotion of the Japanese prefecture, which runs until August 22.
JAM9, a musical band from Hamamatsu, a city in Shizuoka, performed at the JAL stage of the pavilion yesterday to celebrate the opening of the week.
Shizuoka was the home of the first Tokugawa Shogun. Japan's iconic Mount Fuji straddles the boundary of Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures.
Shizuoka has a population of about 3.8 million and is two and a half hours away from Shanghai by flight.
