The family musical “Pippi Longstocking” — celebrating the adventures of a bold red-haired girl with pigtails — will be staged today in front of the Sweden Pavilion.
The story, the most popular fairy tale in the Northern European country, is staged in collaboration with the Swedish Arts Council.
Pippi’s stories in children’s books have been translated into more than 60 languages.
Pippi is small but mighty, and she wears colorful stockings. At the age of nine, she can lift a horse with one hand, and even the toughest policeman or most dangerous burglar cannot scare her. She is independent, courageous, caring and warm-hearted, and also fun loving.
The China Children’s Art Theater and Swedish director Staffan Gotestam, along with his creative team, have collaborated in the musical based on Pippi Longstocking books written by Astrid Lindgren.
