Nigeria celebrated its National Pavilion Day this morning at Expo Centre.
The Nigeria Pavilion will not only show the country's political and economic development but also consolidate and expand the China-Nigeria ties as well as exchange with other countries, Jubril Martins-Kuye, Nigerian minister of Commerce and Industry said.
Nigeria hoped it will use Expo 2010 as a platform to exhibit its investment opportunities in oil, natural gas, industry, mining, manufacturing, housing construction and tourism as well as its abundant historical and cultural resources, he said.
He also welcomed tourists to visit the Nigeria Pavilion.
Wang Yongqiu, deputy Commissioner general of China to Expo 2010, congratulated on Nigeria's National Pavilion Day event on behalf of the Chinese government and the Organising Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
The Nigeria Pavilion has the theme of "Our Cities: Harmony in Diversity." Its walls resemble Zuma Rock and blend the colours of its national flag, Wang said. It was well designed and showed good taste, Wang added.
The palm tree setting at the waiting hall created a typical Nigerian scene, said Wang.
Wang also said that he believed that Expo 2010 will promote China and Nigeria's exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields.
Nigeria Pavilion is Zone C with three sections named "Scenery of the West African Coast," "A Peaceful Country on the Rise" and "Business Section." The section "Scenery of the West African Coast" uses the ancient cultural items to promote cultural tradition as well as exhibit today's Nigeria. The section "A Peaceful Country on the Rise" features multi-ethnic groups developing together. The screen and the sand table exhibit the modern status and future of Nigeria.
