New Zealand PM invites Chinese tourists

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key invited Chinese tourists to journey to New Zealand at the entrance of the New Zealand Pavilion yesterday as part of the celebration of the country’s national Pavilion Day.

Key, who is also New Zealand’s Tourism Minister, resented gifts to three Chinese winners who had traveled to New Zealand and won an online competition by uploading their photos and experiences about the country. The winners will soon set off to New Zealand after receiving an official invitation from Key to experience "one hundred percent pure New Zealand."

Key also presented rugby balls with the logo “2011 Rugby World Cup” to Chinese visitors. He introduced to them the 2011 Rugby World Cup, which will be held in New Zealand next September to October, and is expected to attract more than 80,000 audiences. He welcomed all Chinese tourists to party together in New Zealand.

Key said China is an important market for New Zealand tourism and he hoped more Chinese people could get a taste of the country.

Tourism New Zealand Regional Manager North Asia Mark Frood said that the Expo is a good platform to promote New Zealand’s high-quality tourism.
