Madrid Pavilion in Expo Site and the organizers of Urban Best Practices Area presented gifts to Expo volunteers’ representatives yesterday.
Nicknamed “Little Cabbages”, Expo volunteers, who have been providing services for visitors everyday, may not have even visited the nearest pavilion.
Sixty-three Expo volunteers’ representatives toured the Madrid Pavilion escorted by a docent and were given a gift package of a T-shirt and a set of pins each.
After touring the Madrid Pavilion, a team of pavilion workers nicknamed “Real Madrid” and a team of volunteers’ representatives held a desktop soccer match.
Using computer technology, the volunteers also got the chance to be photographed with the national football team, winners of the World Cup.
Expo 2010’s volunteers have its unique culture, which blends youth vigor with an easy-going manner, said Ignacio Nino representing the Madrid Pavilion. After opening of the Expo on May 1, rain or shine, the volunteers have always been there to help, so the Madrid Pavilion thanked them, Nino added.
“The honoring activity was the approval to us ‘Little Cabbages’”, said Cai Yilei, an Expo volunteer representative.
