The 4 millionth visitor to the Taiwan Pavilion, a Shanghainese named Gu Wen, won 50 pairs of sandals worth 25,000 yuan (US$ 3665.69) yesterday.
Gu said she queued outside the pavilion for about two and half hours and she had booked a flight to Taiwan during the National Day holiday in October.
The Taiwan Pavilion features a transparent cube that houses a giant ball. The glass-and- steel structure is painted with the landscapes of the island's Mount Morrison and Mount Ali.
It also used stones from the Jade Mountain and soil from Yin-Ko Town in decoration.
The pavilion staff invite visitors to set off prayer lanterns -- a Taiwan folk custom -- and view the island's beautiful scenery, warm-hearted people, and rich culture under the theme
"Mountain, Water, Heart and Lantern."
