Japanese table tennis player Ai Fukuhara visits the Japan Pavilion.
Japanese table tennis player Ai Fukuhara, nicknamed "Porcelain Doll," visited the Japan Pavilion this morning.
She said she learned about the history of Japan and was fascinated by the cutting-edge technologies at the exhibition and would recommend it to her friends.
The Japan Pavilion is a semi-circular structure, covered by a purple membrane. Several antennae and caves make the pavilion a "breathing organism," which expresses the harmony between the human heart and technology. The pavilion has been dubbed "Purple Silkworm Island" by Chinese people.
Visitors experience a journey from ancient times into the future. At the "past zone," the friendship between China and Japan is highlighted. Japan's modern energy saving and water purification technologies are exhibited in the "present zone." The exhibition focuses on water protection, global warming and the aging problem. The "future zone" features a modern opera developed by both Chinese and Japanese directors.
