Panama celebrates its National Pavilion Day today, featuring its capital Panama City, "Modern City, City of the World."
The mainly blue and green pavilion features a simulated Panama Canal that has made the country an international shipping transit hub. Photos, exhibits and video tell the story of the building of the canal and how it has contributed to national and international commerce.
The pavilion showcases the geography, lush landscapes, flora and fauna of the country, as well as culture, urban and economic development.
It is the fastest-growing economy in Central America with the largest per capita consumption in the region.
