France Pavilion hosts Paris forum

A forum themed “City’s signal, Ambassador’s forum– Paris” was held in the France Pavilion yesterday afternoon. Jose Frecges, chief representative of the French government, attended the forum and delivered a speech.

Frecges said he believed Expo Shanghai, whose theme is “Better City, Better Life,” would be the most popular in Expo history. The France Pavilion is expected to welcome its 4 millionth visitor soon.

Frecges added that China was becoming a big participant in world economy and Expo Shanghai will make a big impact and further enhance China’s evolution.

The forum used Paris as a sample to discuss city life in a period of globalization. The forum features the “Grand Pari(s)” scheme put forward by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, which intends to solve the city’s traffic congestion problem while preserving Paris’s old buildings.

Many scholars and specialists delivered keynote speeches in the forum, such as Wu Jianmin, Former Chinese ambassador to France, Wu Zhiqiang, the chief planner of Expo, and Carine Henriot, Commissioner of Urban Planning Cooperation from the French Consulate General in Shanghai.
