The Coca-Cola Pavilion held a pin party yesterday morning. An “Expo Pins Collector King” elected from amongst the visitors by ballot, won a limited edition Expo Magnolia pin set. Only 500 of pin sets were produced and none are publicly available.
“King of the Pins” Virgile Ahouandjinou from Benin and David Brooks, chief operating officer of Coca-Cola Bottler Investment Group, attended the party as an appraisal committee. They also shared their pin stories with pin collecting fans.
Designing pins is Virgile Ahouandjinou's special way to promote his home country, the West African Republic of Benin, at all kinds of exhibitions such as the World Expo.
Nicknamed "King of the Pins," the 50-year-old showed his pin collection. He said that through the exchange of pins, he has made international friendships and unforgettable memories. He is currently designing a pin displaying the African map, hoping to enhance people’s understanding of his motherland. The pin will be released in October.
David Brooks displayed Coca-Cola souvenir pins created for previous Olympic Games. He said Coca-cola would deliver a series of souvenir pins to commemorate every big event. Brooks added that the Coca-cola Pavilion had released 6 set pins with 42 different patterns for Expo.
