

A senimar on copper's anti-microbial properties marked the start of the "Copper Week" at the Chile Pavilion yesterday. The south American country is the world's largest exporter of copper.
Representatives from the National Copper Corporation of Chile, the International Copper Association and Kitasato University of Japan shared their findings about copper's anti-microbial charateristics and its application in medical instrument and treatment.
A series of seminars will be held during the "Copper Week" that runs through August 14, involving architects, copper producers, technicians and medical experts.
Copper plays a key role in Chile's national economy. "This event will promote the use of copper in medical applications and prevention of infections," said Jorge A. Iglesias, director of the pavilion.
