Experts and businessmen discussed green buildings and energy efficient buildings during a forum at Broad Pavilion yesterday.
The worsening global climate warming sparked heated debate on low-carbon around world, said Wu Yuanwei, honorary chairman of Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning Sub-institute of Architectural Society of China.
Many sessions of the National People's Congress, China's legislative body, and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's political advisory body, have initiated efforts and programs to deal with the low-carbon issue, Wu added.
Building a low-carbon economy and a low-carbon society has been listed in China's state strategies and citizens' education scheme, Wu said.
Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning as the "big ones" in energy consumption will play an essential role in China's low-carbon development if they can be revamped with new technology and engineering, Wu said.
Wu also stressed systematic planning on low-carbon reconstructing on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning sets. He called on the experts to pay attention to the proper utilization of such facilities after installation in order to save energy in the buildings.
Wu also said that despite innovation and utilization of sustainable energy, people should improve the air-conditioner industry in all fields to lay solid foundation for systematic optimization of such equipment.
Experts and entrepreneurs presented pictures and videos to prove the essentiality of air-conditioning to low-carbon building.
A small wind mill generator also caught eyes of the forum audiences. The machine can generate electricity in slow wind speed from 1 to 11 kilometers per hour. It can solve electricity power shortage in some areas with rich wind power.
The major sponsor of the Broad Pavilion, Broad Air Conditioning Co, Ltd was famous for its air conditioners and air purifiers.
Broad Pavilion in Zone E of the Expo Site gets its design idea from the DNA sculpture. The pavilion intends to “look for the direction of seven billion people.” Inside the pavilion is a unique earthquake simulator which can imitate the strength, direction and length of major earthquakes that happened in China in recent years. Earthquake Experience Room is to show attendees the signs and results of earthquakes and provide earthquake resistance design experience for architects.
