


Algeria Pavilion celebrated its National Pavilion Day with singing and dancing at Expo Centre this morning.
Abdelaziz Belkhadem, Algerian Minister of State and Personal Representative of the Head of State, congratulated on Expo 2010's success on behalf of the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
He said Expo 2010 has no equals in scale, number of visitors, attention of world's media as well as art and innovations in architecture.
Expo 2010's theme "Better City, Better Life" has strategic values and global perspective, he said. The theme also calls for consideration of reshaping human society as well as exhibiting cities' future and future cities, Belkhadem added.
The Algeria Pavilion exhibited the close connection between life quality and urbanization process, he said.
The pavilion showed Algeria’s long history and architecture art of traditional big cities as well as its endeavoring plan of building 10 new cities by 2025, Belkhadem added.
Peng Kaizhou, Chinese Vice Minister of Railways, welcomed the Algerian guests on behalf of Chinese Government and the Organising Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
Algerian is a state of heroes and a country of rich culture and history, Peng said.
He appreciated the Algeria people's spirit and achievements of fearless sacrifice, fighting for independence and freedom, defending the dignity of the nation as well as building a beautiful homeland, Peng said.
The Algeria Pavilion, whose theme is "House of My Fathers," exhibited harmonious relationships of the past, the present and the future's urban cultures, leaving deep and good impression on visitors, Peng added.
China and Algeria has deep traditional friendship despite the long distance between the two, Peng said.
Expo 2010 will improve understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two peoples as well as enable the strategic cooperative ties between the two to form new developments, Peng added.
During the celebration ceremony, a Touareg band performed traditional singing and dancing. Then, Algerian renowned singer Hamid Baroudi and his band staged a show integrating elements such as Sahara music, hand drums and European electronic music.
The Algeria Pavilion in Zone C represents the architectural style of North Africa and Algeria by featuring Algiers' old town of Kashi Ba (Kasbah, Casbah), a world-renowned quarter of narrow lanes, souks and mystery. In the 1,000 square-meter pavilion, visitors can take a walk in the replicated lanes, watch the short film "Walking in Kashi Ba," and walk to the "top" of the city and overlook the streets. Virtual scenes give visitors vivid impressions of life in Algiers, old and new.
